The Hours You Almost Miss.

I have always found it curious that fragrance is so often reserved for occasions. We wear the perfume when we are going somewhere, light the candle when people are coming over and reach for the things we love most once an evening has been given a name. Yet most of life does not announce itself in that way. It moves through quieter hours, without ceremony or expectation, and often without our knowing which parts of it will stay with us.
Those are the hours I find myself becoming most attached to. The first few minutes after getting home, music playing while my attention is elsewhere, someone speaking from another room or the particular ease of a late afternoon when there is nowhere else I need to be. Fragrance can change the way those hours are experienced. It can make a familiar part of the day feel more distinct, giving it a character of its own while it is still happening. I like that fragrance can do this without requiring the moment itself to become more important.
That idea sits at the heart of NSÌSÌMU. I created the house from a belief that fragrance should belong naturally to the ordinary day, bringing character, pleasure and a greater sense of presence to the hours that make up most of our lives. Some of those hours will become memories and others will pass quietly. We rarely know which is which as they happen. Perhaps that is exactly why they deserve more from us while they are here.
Thank you for reading. I am very glad you are here.
Warmly,
Bee
